Ahhh Sugar ...... Ahhhh Honey .... Honey

Dh bought honey from our local beekeeper yesterday and the price had skyrocketed. Last year we paid 8.50 for a quart , but when we went to buy more , he didn't have any and said last year wasn't very productive. So I bought a quart from the marketplace , it was 12.99 a qt , I knew the price was going to be higher there. But now the local beekeeper has raised his price to 12.00 a quart , it's getting so expensive. We bought 4 quarts , so we'll have honey for a little while. I had planned to get a bee hive within two years , but I may have to get one sooner. So how much do you pay for a quart of local honey were you live ?

  1. Well, Last time I bought a
    quart it was $12.99.

Last time I bought local honey
was last month. It was 6lbs. for $18.00.
    It was from last years
batch. But a quart I think was
about $12.00. So I bought the
    6lb jar instead.

They fill new jars in July with
local honey and I do not know
what it will cost when I go to
    buy another jar.

I tried the cocoa drink, just
using water instead of the ginger
tea. I didn't like it much. Just
    taste like watered down cocoa.

I wish I knew how the mexicans
made it without sugar and milk.
I can not seem to find a recipe.
    They probably used chili peppers
    though. lol!

  3. We've been paying 8.50 but it has been a while since we bought any - so I suspect that the price will go up. But we will still buy it - it is good for seasonal allergies and I won't be without that remedy. Plus I just love the taste.

Now I'll be singing that song all day. LOL

  5. $15 sounds about right, but everything at the local Farmers market costs a small fortune.

  6. Oh, I was looking at the price of local honey from last year on top of a quart jar lid. The cost was $12.15.

The $12.99 jar was from a state over from me.
