~ Red Clover Syrup ~

I've been wanting to make red clover syrup for awhile now , so yesterday I got busy. I found the recipe at Prodigal Gardens , there are some great herbal recipes at her website. I made my red clover infusion one day last week and had it in the refrigerator , so I put it in the pot , added the sugar and brought it to a boil , adjusted the heat and let it cook down . I had it boiled down to the perfect consistency when the phone rung. I turned the heat off while I was talking to my sister and left it sitting on the stove. When I came back later to pour it into a jar , it was like a thick caramel candy instead of syrup. Guess , I'm going to try another batch later this week , not sure what I'll use that thick gooey stuff for , any ideas ? I might try to make fly tape for the goat and chicken house , think it would work (LOL) ?

Do you have a link for Prodigal Gardens? I'd love to try my hand at that syrup.

  4. Why is it that the phone always rings with someone you want to talk to at the worst times? My dad swears I just always know when he's getting in the shower.

  5. I like your flypaper idea.
Let us know if you tried it
    and if it worked. lol!

    Maybe top some icecream
    with it. lol!

    I love Prodigal Gardens
    recipes. I made Cattail
    Pancakes on day from info
    off that site.

    I made a popcicle yesterday.
I have it in draft. Maybe I'll
take it out. I added a link
    to Chamomile Popcicles I got
    from one of your links.

That is a great idea for using
the baked record for a 50's
    party, JoyceAnn!!

    Your Welcome for the links!!

    Thanks for stopping by!!

    God Bless You and Yours!!!

  6. Speaking of Candy...could you reheat it a little and roll it out onto wax paper to make some hard candy balls or drops with? I'd bet it would be really good! Maybe you've come up with a way to make it into lozenges?! I'd give it a whirl and perhaps it'd be good on ice cream too?

    Just a thought, lol!
Sorry it didn't turn out the way you needed it to.

    Many Blessings!

  9. add a bit of water to your gooey syrup; reheat, mix well and soon it will be syrup again.

I'd like to have your recipe if you will share.
