Sunday afternoon , Dh and I rode to the Goodwill store to check-out their glassware. I've been wanting to make a suncatcher/garden totem , but I didn't have enough glass pieces to complete one. I found a few pieces to use. If you would like to see a glass garden totem , click here > http://www.instructables.com/id/Garden-Art-Totems/ . I hope to get one put together this week , will post a pic when it's finished.
and some bamboo plate holders , we use those thin paper plates and these are a must for those type plates. I also use the bamboo holders to dry herbs or to hold fruits. I'm trying to replace all of my plastic canisters with glass , so I was happy to find the large glass container.
What creative project are you working on ?

Great finds! And those plate holders bring back memories... we used to have some when I was young. :)
ReplyDeleteI can hardly wait to see you garden totem when it is finished. I must say that writing and photography are my only really creative endeavors right now. Hopefully this fall we'll start more wine, and I can make some soaps and candles.

Oh that is so cool!
ReplyDeleteWouldn't it be great
to put a solor light
inside the totem?
I put solor lights outside
than bring them indoors
at night and stick them
inside glass jugs because
they reflect more light
that way. I think that
you could do the same
with the glass totems
for outside. Problably
inside too. Make a
stand for it.
Thanks for the herb drying
tip using the bamboo plates!
Cute planter you picked up too!
God Bless You and Yours!!!
Love this idea. I did something similar a few years back with cups and saucers. I think I will have to try this it looks much more shiny. Love Hugs and Blessings
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of the crystal garden totem - I might just start savng up pieces for one of those.
ReplyDeleteRight now I'm working on quilts - and I also have a garden statue of a glorious raven that needs painted black. He is a greenish color right now and he doesn't like it one bit. Withour pleasant sunny days I should get some black spray paint and get him painted before fall comes. And I have a dancing fairy that needs a paint job too - in the garden - I like a sparkly paint would be perfect - maybe green sparkles?
OOhhh, I just know it will be gorgeous! I just love blue glass in the garden. :0) Happy Crafting!
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect idea! Now all I have to do is go through my cupboards! I've been wondering what to do with all of those odds and ends taking up space...now I know!
ReplyDeleteAs for the solar light suggestion that would be wonderful in the winter months!!!!
I'm not much of a creative person...my writing is my creative outlet. Course...I suppose one could say cooking is too? I love to cook and bake!!!
The finds you've gotten are outstanding! I cannot wait to see what you've created...
Many Blessings! :)
That is going to be cool! I went to the linked site. Nice!
ReplyDeleteWhen I put the solor lights in
ReplyDeletefront of a mirror they reflect
more light.
When I told you awhile ago that
I was sketching out lamp ideas,
it was for solor lights.
Looking forward to seeing your
Totem.
God Bless You and Yours!!!
I have a little book on gardening
ReplyDeleteand there is a section called,
Folk or Fable that has some info
on Plant Totems. Different dates
have different plants attached to
them. Like March 21 to April 19 is is
Dandelion. April 20 to May 20 is
Wild Clover, etc.
The book is called, Garden Wisdom by Bernard Schofield.
Have a nice evening!
Hi Flassie ~ Sounds like a wonderful book !!
