I gathered our 1st garden harvest yesterday , 4 beautiful little radishes (LOL). Ms. Lame Lucy the guinea also laid her 1st egg of the season yesterday. The hens have been laying well , considering they're 2 years old now. I was planning to put the older hens in the freezer soon , but I've decided to wait. But I will be getting some new chicks soon. The leaf lettuce is also ready to harvest , looking forward to a homegrown tossed salad. What are you harvesting ?

I'm far enough north, I'm still harvesting dreams and wishes.

Well I guess you could say I am harvesting snow. I still can't see the garden area, still about 6-8 inches on it. And then it is virgin garden, this will be the first planting for it ever. Dug the fence post holes last summer while I was out here but never got the fence up cause I pinched a nerve in my neck. So went back to NJ for the winter to get the house ready to sell and came back out here 2 weeks ago. Had to get towed out of the driveway after getting stuck in 2.5 feet of snow. Got it plowed the next day and have been waiting ever since for the snow to melt so I can get the garden going. Soon we will have the driveway graveled and widened and the barn built. Ordered the chicks this week.

I'm still harvesting raindrops and rainbows. It is still too cold here and way too wet to plant - everything would mold before it sprouted. But I'm happy to see your harvest - it gives me hope.

Radishes make a really good tasting broth.
ReplyDeleteDo you cook them also? Add a
little vinegar or lemon juice to
the greens after you take them out
of the broth and either drink the
broth of use it for extra flavor
in a soup.
I've just been harvesting those yummy weeds! lol!
God Bless You and Yours!!!
