Between the April showers , Little Froggy and I took a walk around the homestead yesterday. Just as we were getting to the chicken coop , I saw a big bird flying up to a tree at the end of the garden. I thought it was a buzzard , but then I saw the long tail feathers. I believe it was a wild turkey , I had my camera , but by the time I got close enough to get a pic , it flew off. I think it may have came by to visit the guineas and the hens, maybe it will come back.
The hens are enjoying their freshly , cleaned coop.
The blueberry bush I moved last fall , is putting out leaves and buds. The other two aren't sprouting , hope to get some more blueberry bushes this weekend to replace those.
Little Froggy thought it might be fun to feed Jazzy a stick , she wasn't to thrilled , although she does love apple tree sticks.
Have you taken a walk around your homestead lately ?

That's lovely. I'll have to take a walk around our homestead - which is quite small - actually almost tiny - but it will be fun to find out what my camera discovers.
ReplyDeleteMy walks are in the neighbor hood.
ReplyDeleteI do love walking past the cattle
in a field. That is about as close as I can get in my neck of the country from walking distance.
Don't think I'd like to eat a
dried up stick either. Maybe the
leaves off of one though. LOL!
Such fun with kids around!
Could you keep my father-in-law
in your prayers for healing. Thanks
for Praying!
God Bless You and Yours and
Your Creative Life and Health!!!
Lib , I just might find me a turkey caller , great idea. I told my Dh that I might put me up a turkey stand , instead of deer stand (LoL). We had wild turkey for Thanksgiving a few years ago and I loved it , thought it tasted better than store bought.
ReplyDeleteIt's great that 6 generations have enjoyed your homestead , there's not many people who can say that anymore
My Mom lives on land that has been in my Dad's family for at least 5 generations or more. I grew up there and enjoy walking around my Grandparents homestead too. Brings back many wonderful memories. The photo on my profile is me , standing in my Grandparents barnyard.
JoAnn , Can't wait to see your pictures around your homestead.
Flassie , At least you get to enjoy the view of the cows , gives you a back in the country feeling.
I will definitely add your FIL to my Prayers. May he be Blessed !

Loved taking this walk around your homestead with you. First time I knew you had a bunny! One of my little yellow keets (Otherbird) went to birdie heaven and I have a little stone painted with her name under the shady jasmine tree in the back yard. Her feather spirits are missed. I think you have one. Take care. xoxoxo
