~~ Lambsquarters ~~

~ Notice : The top center leaves that are emerging are powdery white ~

~ Lambsquarter ~

Friday I tried lambsquarter for the first time , it was delicious. The garden is full of this wild weed , I plan to harvest as I pull weeds from the garden. I created my own recipe and it turned out well , so here's how I made it.

~ Lamb's Quarter Stir-Fry ~

2 tbsp of bacon grease or olive oil

2 cloves of garlic (minced )

1 quart of lamb's quarter leaves

Lemon pepper seasoning

Parmesan cheese

Cooked noodles or rice

Saute minced garlic in oil of choice , until it is clear looking. Add lamb's quarter and stir-fry until done , add lemon pepper seasoning to taste. Serve over noodles or rice , add cheese and enjoy !

I used store bought lemon pepper seasoning , but I plan to make my own lemon basil / Pepper seasoning soon. Let me know if you try this recipe , would love to know what you think about it.

  3. Sounds yummy!

    Does anything look like
    Lambsquarters?

I seen some in a park this
    morning. Lots of it.

Some look dull on the leaf
    and some look shiny.

Why do they call it Lambsquarter?
I see they also call it Ducks feet.
Looks like ducks feet. Is it pigs weed too? Now is it that pigs eat it? Is that why they call it that?

At Prodigardens she said it had a powder on it that she dust off. I didn't see that.

I wondered if there was different
varities. One shiny one dull looking leaves.

They seem to be forming buds at the top.

  4. Flassie , I posted a close-up of lambsquarter , I don't think there are any look alikes. It does have a powder , but sometimes you can't see or feel it , if you wash it , you will see the residue from the powder.
The leaves maybe shiny or dull , it depends on age , I think. I'm not sure why it's called lambsquarter , ducks feet or pigsweed.
I'm planning to open my " Herbal Spirits " blog backup. I want to add more pics and details about the herbs.

  5. Ok! Thanks!

I like the idea of those
    infusions on Prodigardens.
    Using them instead of vitamins.

    Medicine Woman's Roots has
    some books she talked about
each one a few weeks or so
ago I think it was. I think
I need to go get some really
    good books with great photos
    in them too.

Oh, that would be great the
    herb blog.

    God Bless You and Yours!!!
