I forged for blackberries and made a freezer jam. It is so hot I didn't want to warm up the place to make a blackberry cobbler like I would of like to.
I didn't take my camera on my trek to the pond, but I did see some new ducklings.
I was reading a Dandelion book I like. Sometime I'll make a blog entry about it. It has a lot of recipes in it.
I also picked some chickory seeds and took them to another area in hopes they will grow there next year.
Also did the same thing with some Mallow plants. I have tasted the little peas from that plant and really like them.
Hi Flassie ~ You could have froze the berries whole and made cobbler later on when it's cool. I wash mine , lay them out on a towel to dry , after they're dry , put them on a baking sheet and freeze them. When they're froze , you pack them into a container and put them back in the freezer. The berries don't stick together this way and you'll be able to use what you need. You can blanch them , but I never have. I bet the ducklings were cute , don't think we're going to have any babies around the farmette this year. I haven't had a hen go broody and the guinea haven't been successful in hatching their eggs.
The dandelion book sounds interesting , look forward to your post. I've never used chickory or mallow since we don't have it growing on our land. I have seen chickory growing along the side of the roads here , may have to snatch some seed and try your idea of getting it grow in the yard here , so I don't have to worry about chemicals on it.
A bird , squirrel or some other critter may have eat your seed , or maybe they're weren't good.
Sunflower blessings to you, my friend.

ReplyDeleteprobably why the high price.
Thats a lot of money.
She has other books and DVD's.
I hope it is at your library
or they can get it through
interlibrary loan.
I've gotten some books from
out of state through inter-
library loan.
Oh, Thanks for the idea
JoyceAnn!! I"ll try that
on the next batch of
blakberries I pick.
Most Chickory seems to grow
alongside the road. I wonder
why. That is why I moved the
seeds of both plants to another
spot.
I hope the sunflower seeds I
gave my nephews wife are good.
They were both bought for this
year.
Thanks for stopping by!!
God Bless You and Yours!!!
