What's been Brewing in Nana's Kitchen ?

Salsa ............................................

Lots of Salsa .........................................

and Pickled Okra !

Hope you enjoyed Jazz and Jo's post yesterday , those silly goats. I 've busy washing veggies , chopping and brewing them up to can. My Mom , K Grey and I made 10 quarts of hot salsa , 9 qts of mild salsa and 10 pints of pickled okra. It's alot of work and I'm glad it's finished. Today I'll be taking inventory of our canned goods , organizing everything and making zucchini bread. Curious J loved the z. bread , since he's a very picky eater , I'm thrilled. I told him it was Yum -yum bread , didn't dare mention zucchini or I'm sure he would not have tried it. It's a great way to get some veggies in him , without him knowing.

If you would like to try this recipe , here's were I found it ........

What have you been brewing this week ?

~ Many Blessings ~

  1. Beautiful Bountiful Harvest!!

    I have never had pickled
    okra before. Not a big
fan of okra but I might
    be after I tasted your
    pickled okra. I should
    give okra a try again
now that I am older and
    enjoy bitter taste so
    much more.

Yes I enjoyed Jazz and Jo's
    blog entry very much. They
    are a couple of cuties!!

    I enjoyed making up those
    three stories about Ms. Crew
    and Mr. Crow.

Nonsense is a way to wake up the brain cells. lol! I think Dr. Suess has a quote about it.

Oh, yeah, here it is, "I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells." ~Dr. Seuss

I brewed some ginger tea this morning. Does that count?

    God Bless You and Yours!!!

  2. Wow - you've been busy. I have to make some zuchinni relish this year. I make enough for us and our daughters' families fora couple years so I don't have to make it very often. On other years I make lots of jam, and then some years I make bread and butter pickles. This year it is relish, I am almost out of the last jar.

We put grated carrots and zuchini and sometimes blueberries in Ben's muffins - he too doesn't take too well to vegetables, but he sees them going in. Also cauliflower in mac and cheese - pureed of course. It is going to be interesting when he eats at a friend's house and tells their mom she forgot the cauliflower in the mac and cheese. LOL

I'm just starting to get things from my garden, but I'm hoping to pick a bunch of green beans the first of the week.

  4. What a beautious bounty you've got going there JoyceAnn!

I just picked my second ripe tomato, lol! We have had way too much rain here in the Midwest and storms to go with it so my container garden is not doing so hot..

I'm going to snag your bread recipe...adding pineapple sounds too good.

Have a wonderful weekend and don't work too hard! :)
