Yesterday , we harvested the garlic , it was an early harvest due to weather conditions this year. We had lots of rain and snow this past winter while the garlic was kinda dormant , but in the warmer months of April and most of May , there was very little rain during the prime growing season for garlic. Although the garlic died back early and the heads are a lot smaller , there will be plenty to keep the vampires away (LOL). Today I'll be sorting , grading and hanging the garlic to dry.
The " Lavender Festival " is this weekend too , hope to get a chance to check it out tomorrow. So , what are you doing this weekend ?

That looks like a great garlic harvest!! I'm growing garlic for the first time this year. they seem to be doing pretty good. I hope I can get a wagon load of garlic too.

Look at all that wonderful garlic! I have begun to harvest mine as well.
I've enjoyed reading through your blog & catching up. So many great pics!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Oh nice harvest. We used to plant garlic on the shortest day of the year and harvest on the longest - and we'd do a garlic harvesting dance too.
This weekend we are participating in a fund raiser 5K walk/run - it is the one year anniversary of Don's open heart surgery - what a way to celebrate!!!
Thank you for the garlic you sent me. Yours looks excellent and I can't wait to use some of mine thanks to you.
I stopped by to read up on your posts. Great tips for keeping pests away from your plants! Do you braid the garlic and hang it to dry. I remember a neighbor who did that. Glad you got a crop.
Hi Callie ~ I don't braid the garlic when I hang it , I let it dry a few days before I braid. I'll start braiding some of it next week. Glad you came by for a visit , I know you're busy with the Grands. I've had my oldest Grandson staying most of this week with me , he has poison ivy and couldn't go to his summer daycare provider.
