~ ~ Goats and Violets ~ ~

( Jazzlyn )

I didn't get a chance to blog yesterday , it was a busy day. Grocery shopping was at the top of the list yesterday and now that it's out of the way , it's on to better things. I did have a chance to pick-up a few broccoli , cabbage and herbs while I was in town. Dh bought potatoes the other day , so we'll be planting in the garden this week.

It's been a long wait , but we finally got our future milking goats. I decided to get Nigerian Dwarf Goats , we got 2 females this past weekend. I got young goats so they would grow up around the Grands , it'll be awhile before we have milk. My girls and the grands came over yesterday afternoon to see the goats , of course they all fell in love with the kids. Curious J said "aww " when he saw them and Little Froggy eyes lit up , he said " Sheep " , we all got a laugh out of that. Little Missy loves them and wants to let them out to follow her and Little Time wanted to pull their ears , the kids didn't like that and they bellowed out and let him know(LOL). I've been pondering names the last couple of days. I've decided to name them Jazzlyn and Joyelle , but we'll call them Jazz and Joy. Jazz has more black and Joy has more white , so they're easily identified. They're so precious and I know we're really going to enjoy having them around.
The violets are in full bloom , I harvested a bowl full yesterday and hope to gather another bowl today. I'll be making jelly tomorrow , if I get enough gathered today.

Love the names, alliterative names are great for animals, My Mom has draught horses who are names Dixie and Daisy but I can never tell who is who because their colouring is so similar.

The goats are darling. Neat names. I've been trying to talk my daughter into getting some Nigerian Dwarf milkers. I'll make sure she sees your posts about them. I'm looking forward to the jelly post!

Hi Flassie ~ I've been so busy , Spring cleaning , gathering herbs , starting seeds , getting ready to plant the garden , feeding the animals and the list goes on and on. But , most of it is enjoyable.

Hi Tami ~ I like the names Daisy and Dixie too.

Hi Vickie ~ Thanks!

Hi Lib ~ The Violets are so beautiful this year. The Grands loved my jelly last year , hope to make a couple of batches this year.

Hi Anna ~ Hope you get goats soon , I've waited a couple of years to get goats and I'll be waiting another year or so for milk.

Hi Callie ~ I've never had goats , so this is a learning experience for me. I read lots of info and thought the Nigerian Dwarf goats would be best for our farmette.

Violet jelly?? is it good?? Sounds yummy!
Do the violets grow wild around you?
Jaz and Joy are perfect names for goats.
Are they going to get much bigger than that?

Hi Marie ~ Taking a quick break , saw your comments. Violet jelly is very good , has a mild flavor and is very tasty on crackers. Violets do grow wild here , I'm getting ready to head outside and harvest some more blooms before hubby mows.
The goats will grow between 18 and 21 inches high , but their bodies will be long and full size.

I've been by to visit your blog , but I can't comment on that type comment format. I'll try your wordpress when I get a chance.
