~ It Feels Like Springgg ...................

the weather is gorgeous , in the 70's today. After I fed the chickens and guinea , Shadow and I took a 2 hour hike through the woods. I left the chickens in the coop area , can't trust Shadow around them either. He killed one of the guinea a few months ago , so I have to keep him in the dog lot while the chickens free range.

He enjoyed his romp in woods , he ran almost the whole time we were in the woods.

The stream had enough water in it for Shadow to enjoy running through it.

Spotted some frog eggs and

enjoyed listening to the frogs croaking loudly in this wetland area.

I found a small patch of Crane-Fly Orchids

and this Crane-Fly Orchid that had bloomed last year. The dead bloom was still intact , I'll be watching it closely this year , hope to see it in bloom.

Found some Oregon Grape holly down by the stream that was blooming.

This log was full of mushrooms , I've been thinking about growing some mushrooms. We just might have the right environment for growing them after seeing this log , need to do more research.
It felt great to be outside in the sun and fresh air , hope you're having nice weather too.

Hi Callie ~ Hope you have Spring weather soon too. We'll probably have another cold snap sometime over the next month , but I think for the most part , Spring is finally here.

Hi Lib ~ Glad you enjoyed the hike , maybe we'll go again next week (LOL).

70's? it got really cool here today. I still put my veggies out but my Banana Plant wasn't too happy about it. I wish you'd send some of that weather our way.

Lovely hike you had!!

I wonder what type of
mushrooms those are?
They sure are pretty!

Got to know you mushrooms
like weeds and wild foods.
Some are fatal if you do
not know what your picking.

God Bless You and Yours!!!

Hi Flassie ~ I'm not sure what kind of fungi/mushroom those are. Guess I need to do some research and see if I can find out.
I just found out that the holly bush was Oregon Grape and can be used medicinally and the berries are edible. I looked it up to find out what type of holly it is , but it's not holly , it's in the barberry family. I plan to do a post about it at my herbal blog next week.
