~ Another Busy Day and More Berry Blessings ~

Yesterday was wash day , this time of year I have lots of beach towels to wash. So , while the grands napped , I did laundry. Today I'll be doing more laundry and gardening.
The potatoes & onions are ready to be harvested. I was going to wait until the first of next week , but we're suppose to have heavy rains this weekend. They need to be harvested before the rain , a couple of the onions I gathered the other day were rotting. They definitely need to be dug before we get more rain.
There's always so much to do this time of the year , it can get overwhelming , even though I enjoy doing it. I picked more blackberries this morning. I plan to squeeze the juices out and make more jelly this weekend while I'm shut in due to the rain. I've been thinking about making blackberry herbal themed gift baskets or bags for Christmas. I will dry some leaves to make blackberry tea bags and make a tincture from the roots this fall. I'll include instructions and a fact sheet about the herb , add a jar of jelly and a recipe for my blackberry cobbler or muffins. I could decorate a gift bag with my ~ Berry Picking Blessings ~ folk art ..... guess what , I just noticed I dated the drawing 06 , it should be 08 , crazy me (LOL).
I also thought about adding cloth napkins to the basket or bag , instead of tissue paper. I think the items would look wonderful nestled down in the napkins. I don't sew much , but I think I could manage to hem some napkins. I like to give what I call ~ Green Gifts ~ gifts that are environmental friendly.

Thanks Lib , for inspiring me to think about holiday gifts early. I always have intentions on doing this , but end up waiting to the last minute. This year I'm in gear and will get it done early. Now I need to figure out what I'm going to make for the kids.

~ Hope your weekend is Blessed ~

That reminds me of a scene from "The Sound of Music".The captin asks the children where they have been and they say berry picking. When the Captin asks what kind of berries they say strawberries. One of the kids say's "It's just been so cold lately they turned blue." LOLOLOL Ok that brought back a memory...lolol sorry I'm strange like that.
You asked me about voting, all votes are welcome and help me. You can either vote on all of the pieces or if that takes to long, you can always just pick one out and vote for it. It is totally up to you but THANK YOU for supporting me. That is for sure!!!!
Wonderful post!!! Thank you for sharing it with us!

Thanks for stopping by Joyce Ann!

I've been thinking about getting started on Christmas gifts too.

Dd just got glasses and I see a pattern for glass cases at Mary Engelbriets website. So I think I will do that. I might make my own pattern idea though instead of hers. I had it in mind before I see Marys. I like her
embellishments.

About voting for Angela. I vote everyday on all pieces. I don't know how they rate it though. I am wondering if I should write more reviews. I've written a couple maybe three. I forget to rate them with stars though. I need to remember to do that. I wonder if any of that counts? Don't know.

The peppers look good and I like this drawing!

Do you write down what worked and what didn't in your garden journal?

Do you rotate your crops every year?

Oh, I would of loved to have known about drying the leaves.

Looking forward to learning abou the roots too when you post about it.

GOD Bless You and Yours and Your Creative Life!!!

We all make those simple mistakes with spelling . I hate when it happens too.

I've never seen " The Sound of Music " , believe it or not. Maybe one day I'll watch it , sounds like a cute scene.

Flassie , I do try to keep a journal about my garden. But , sometimes I don't get all the info recorded. I'm trying to jot it all on the calendar ,so I can write about it later.

I do rotate my crops each year , but this is my first year trying to grow things organically.

Most roots are gathered in the Fall , will post info about blackberry roots then.

Your baskets sound lovely. Just the mention of your homemade jelly made my mouth water. It is a busy time of year, but its so much fun. I really like your art piece and think it would make fabulous tags for your baskets.

Artbrat ,
That's a wonderful idea to make tags for baskets or bag.

Hi Lib ,
I think I will make the girls a doll , but making something for the boys is hard. I'm sure I'll find something to make for them.

I watched The Sound of Music just the other day. Dd borrowed it.

JoyceAnn I have a Soft Baseball tutorial link in my November archives if your looking for an idea for Gifts for the boys. I also have a boy doll up in December archives. Two one before I repaired him and one after. I gave his sisters dolls and he wanted one too. So you never know.
Slippers is another one. I have links to a couple different blogs for that. Martha Stewart has one too at her site.

Boys can wear aprons too for crafts and cooking. How about a billfold to fit in their pocket or a bag to collect rocks or shells.

Make up your own game or sew a mat that has roads and towns. Building blocks out of material.

Pillows with their artwork embroidered on it. Or a t-shirt with their artwork on it.

Maybe I should come up with some things and post it on my blog.

I'm in the middle still of cleaning out. So when I am finished I'll do that.

God Bless You and Yours!!!
