Cucumbers aren't just for dinner anymore ..............

Little Froggy and I headed out early Saturday morning to feed the chickens and goats. We also checked the garden and there were several cucumbers that needed picking , so I picked and he put them in the basket. He was so proud of our harvest , even though the basket was a little heavy , he toted it all way back to the house.

Once we were in the house , he held up a cucumber and said " eat ". I peeled him a cucumber and put him a little ranch dressing on the side and he ate it for breakfast , but he also wanted a bowl of cereal after his breakfast appetizer (LOL).

I tried making the blackberry/red clover yesterday and failed again , let it cook to long (sigh). But I haven't give up yet , so I harvested more red clover this morning. I'll infuse the clover tonight and try again tomorrow , this time I'm going to use the " Ball Blue Book " method. I made the lemon balm / tarragon vinegar and it's infusing on the window sill.

This was yesterday's harvest , we finally harvested some descent looking zucchini. The first 3 or 4 zucchini turned yellow at about 3 inches long , it's been so hot and dry here. I've been watering them a little and they're doing better now. Hopefully we will get some rain this week , storms are fore casted for today. I made a salad with the leaf lettuce , mixed it with some iceberg lettuce and cucumbers for supper last night , it sure was good. What a joy to have all these fresh veggies to munch on.
How was your weekend ?

Nothing like a little appetizer before your breakfast! He certainly is a good helper. I so wish I could send you some rain. He had another two inches during our little afternoon shower today.

Oh those zukes look so good! I just came in from picking a few more beans and some swiss shard which I will throw in a salad tonight.
Little Froggy is a boy after my own heart...I love to slice up those cukes and eat them with ranch or just about anything...I love to slice them up and put them in a bowl with onion, vinegar, sugar, salt, pepper and water to taste and eat them like pickles! Sooo good!
Everything is very dry here too...and I had to water tonight. I don't like having to do that but it was a must or things all would have croaked. I've just about used up all of my rain water I've collected. We had some storms go by us about an hour ago, but nothing here.
I wonder why your syrup isn't coming out? Hmmmm...so curious!
Enjoy your repast and blessings on the farm to all of its inhabitants! :)
(Thanks for stopping by and my heart was very moved that you went to your stream to pray yesterday...we are so in this together Sister! I will pray for the rains to come for those who need it to replenish and renew, the creeks, streams and tributaries...) Bless You! xoxo

I need a helper like that! I haven't done anything but use and dry some of my herbs. You are so smart with all you do with them. I need to get busy.

Cucumbers for breakfast... it is so hot I have been skipping breakfast, but cucumbers sound good. I got a cabbage for the chickens to chow down on tomorrow. It will be nice and cold in the fridge by then to help cool them off. Good luck with the red clover tomorrow.

I love to dip my veggies in ranch dressing. I love the eggs in the little basket. Pretty soon I'll have a basket full of eggs like yours (I hope). My six ladies should start laying in September.
